Hovatter Elementary School

Hovatter Elementary School is Loudoun County’s 97th public school. The school opened in the midst of a global pandemic, after a year of hybrid and distance learning.

Built on the former 151-acre Hovatter Farms property, Hovatter Elementary is located on 41135 Collaboration Drive in Aldie. The 110,400 SF building serves 960 students from kindergarten through grade five and includes a media center, classrooms, a cafeteria, a multipurpose room, and two unlighted outdoor physical education fields.

Hovatter Elementary School earned a national ENERGY STARĀ® award in the 2021 Decarbonize Your Design Challenge for sporting exemplary energy design strategies that prevent CO2 emissions. In the contest, jurors reviewed 33 projects and selected only four winners based on successful and equitable integration of energy efficiency with electrification, renewable energy, and/or other decarbonization strategies in the overall design concept.

Of the four projects named winners, two were built by Shockey.
