WCPS: Warren County MS

Warren County’s new middle school is a two-story, traditionally-styled, light-filled building that encompasses many years of planning, but fewer than two years of building.

Shockey recently finished building the new 154,800 SF brick structure, which consists of general, resource, and science classrooms, an administration suite, guidance offices, a health clinic, kitchen, library/media center, gymnasium, locker rooms and other associated spaces. The facility also includes a cost-efficient “cafetorium” that can seat about 500 at a time, using folding chairs that are located next to the school’s dining area. An auditorium may be added in a later phase.

The new middle school campus is located on a 31.91 acre-site at the intersection of Happy Creek Road and the planned Leach Run Parkway in Front Royal. Offering core curriculum classrooms for grades six, seven and eight, the school was designed by Ballou Justice Upton Architects of Richmond.
