The $95 million Glenmere Expansion at The Village at Rockville—A National Lutheran Community is being built on five acres within the original community’s existing 31-acre footprint. It includes a 130-unit independent living apartment building with underground parking, an indoor aquatic center, fitness areas, and dining venues.
Designed by BCT Architects in Baltimore, a variety of one-and two-bedroom floor plans comprise the 130 units, which range in size from 737-1,786 square feet. The project, managed by ARCH Consultants, Ltd., encompasses a total of 295,544 square feet across two interconnected, four-story structures.
TVAR is a CCRC that offers independent living, short-term and outpatient rehabilitation, respite, long-term nursing care, hospice, assisted living and memory support. It is owned by NLCS (National Lutheran Communities & Services), a faith-based, not-for-profit ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Delaware-Maryland, Metropolitan Washington, D.C. and Virginia Synods, serving people of all beliefs.
The Glenmere Expansion will open in the fall of 2020.
“We are pleased to be working with Howard Shockey & Sons again,” said TVAR’s Executive Director Kyle Hreben, “to make Glenmere come to life through their partnership and expertise.”
NLCS chose to work with Shockey after having partnered with them on The Village at Orchard Ridge in Winchester.
