Shockey is building the Glenmere Expansion at The Village at Rockville—A National Lutheran Community on five acres within the original community’s existing 31-acre footprint. The $95 million expansion at The Village at Rockville (TVAR) includes a 130-unit independent living apartment building with underground parking.
Designed by BCT Architects in Baltimore, the 295,544 SF project features two interconnected four-story structures that also include an indoor aquatic center, fitness areas, and dining venues.
TVAR is a CCRC that offers independent living, short-term and outpatient rehabilitation, respite, long-term nursing care, hospice, assisted living and memory support. National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS) is a faith-based, not-for-profit ministry of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America’s Delaware-Maryland, Metropolitan Washington, D.C. and Virginia Synods, serving people of all beliefs.
NLCS chose to work with Shockey after having partnered with them on The Village at Orchard Ridge in Winchester. The Glenmere project is on track to open to residents in the fall of 2020.
“We are pleased to be working with Howard Shockey & Sons again,” said The Village at Rockville’s Executive Director Kyle Hreben, “to make Glenmere come to life through their partnership and expertise.”
