LCPS: Willard Middle School

Located on a site off Braddock Road in Aldie, Willard Middle School serves grades 6 through 8 and utilizes the “house” concept for each grade.

Shockey built 184,593 SF of classroom spaces, a cafeteria, an auditorium, a gymnasium and auxiliary gymnasium, and three unlighted outdoor physical education fields for an anticipated program capacity of 1,350 students. To provide for outdoor learning and ample daylight in all classrooms, a central media center was designed to feature views that span from the building entry to an enclosed courtyard/civic plaza.

Although public spaces are shared with the community and are easily accessible and visible along the front of the school, these common spaces are also secured through separate entrances for improved student safety.
