With more than 130,000 square feet, Stafford County Public Schools has broken ground on a new elementary project to house up to 1,070 students in kindergarten through grade 5 and help address rapidly growing population in the area. Located in Fredericksburg’s Hartwood District, the new school is being built off Truslow Road on Stafford Plaza Drive, on the same site as high school #6.
The proposed ES #18 project is a three-story masonry and metal stud structure with brick and metal panel veneers. Shockey will build a play field, paved play areas, modular play areas, a passenger vehicle parking lot, a school bus pickup and drop off loop, and a Stafford County Public Schools Transportation Services bus parking depot to accommodate 88 school buses and 100 employee-owned vehicles.
The project is set to be completed in August 2026.
