The design of Brambleton Middle is a first for the fast-growing Loudoun County, Virginia school system. Allowing for added security and oversight, the school features a welcoming glass entry plaza. A glass-enclosed crosswalk connects one half of the building to the other, and the connector crosswalk includes benches where students can sit and journal or read.
The lobby space, while providing a place for student commons during the school day, can also be utilized for public activities after hours. Classroom wings are organized by grade level to allow for age-appropriate educational and emotional growth through the students’ (grades six through eight) time in the school.
Designed by MFTA Architecture, Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. served as the general contractor for the new school.
