      In Progress: Battlefield Park ESHanover County Public Schools (HCPS) recently broke ground at the site in Mechanicsville where the new Battlefield Park Elementary School will take shape.
Cheering on the groundbreaking — with shovels in hand — were students, HCPS staff, and county officials. The school division called the day “historic,” sharing photos of the joy and celebration the community shared during Tuesday’s festivities.
Shockey will build the replacement school, and the architect is Crabtree, Rohrbaugh & Associates. The new Battlefield Elementary School is slated to open for the 2026-2027 school year.
