In Progress: Albemarle Co

Shockey is rehabilitating and renovating the historic 1803 Circuit Court building and its 1935 addition at the Albemarle County Courthouse Complex in Charlottesville. Located at 501 East Jefferson Street, the team is working on the West Site of the complex.

The project involves both renovation and new construction, including refurbishment of the historic Jeffersonian courtroom, expansion and full enclosure of the existing sallyport, construction of a modernized courtroom, and the creation of a secure, controlled entrance. The team will also upgrade the building’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing, security, and telecommunications systems.

When complete, the renovation will preserve the courthouse’s historic character while incorporating modern enhancements that meet current functional, operational, and technological standards.
