Delivered under Virginia’s Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act of 2002 (PPEA), the 38-bed Loudoun County Juvenile Detention Center replaces an existing facility and allows for expansion in future years.
LCJDC, at 35,600 SF, comprises two residential housing units, a 15-bed youth shelter unit, and a public resource center with classrooms, gathering and activity areas, and meeting rooms. The facility provides secure detention areas, a full commercial kitchen, a dining area, intake areas, staff offices, medical services, visitation areas, a divided gymnasium, administration offices, and other staff support spaces.
The owner committed to achieving LEED® for New Construction certification. The facility achieved LEED® Silver with aggressive energy use reduction goals.
