Planned in phases and closely coordinated with the community’s residential events and activities, Shockey expanded The Hermitage at Cedarfield senior living community by renovating 75,800 SF and building 131,000 SF of new space. The five-phased project in Richmond kicked off with upgrades and expansions to Cedarfield’s dining center. The 26,000-SF space was transformed into three separate areas to provide residents with more dining choices.
A luxurious 18,000-SF health and wellness center with two swimming pools, a fitness center, and studios for yoga, dance, and Pilates, was built in the main courtyard, close to independent living apartments and the new dining areas.
Shockey performed renovations to an existing pedestrian bridge and an update to the physical and occupational therapy spaces. The team also renovated and expanded the memory support and skilled care areas at the occupied community. A new apartment building with structured parking on the lowest level was also delivered.
