Keeping a campus operational during a renovation is a challenge unique to each living center. For an expansion at The Village at Rockville (TVAR), Shockey oversaw a multi-phased renovation that upgraded a majority of the campus, including common areas, the intermediate care kitchen and dining area, a hair salon, library, boardroom, bistro, and entry spaces.
Shockey planned out the phases in coordination with the owner and subcontractors, with the goal of creating the safest and fastest construction schedule possible. The first phase of the project downsized the existing CCRC from 300 to 160 beds and established 50 assisted-living suites. The main building now features all private rooms.
TVAR offers independent living, short-term rehabilitation, respite care, assisted living, extended nursing care, hospice, and memory support.
