Public Works Building in Richmond Receives LEED Silver Certification

RICHMOND, Va. — The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has granted LEED Silver Certification to City of Richmond Department of Public Works’ Commerce Road Building 1 at 1654 Commerce Road.

Shockey completed a multi-site project consisting of four buildings to serve the Department of Public Works. The Commerce Road Building 1, which received the LEED designation, serves the DPW’s operations administration, including street maintenance, street cleaning, and solid waste operations.

Building 2 serves street maintenance and street cleaning. Building 3 is a traffic signal and sign shop, and Building 4 is a radio shop.

Construction was part of the overall Parker Field Redevelopment Project, and the designer was nbj Architecture of Richmond.
