To help meet the increasing need for behavioral health services for patients throughout the Northern Shenandoah Valley, Shockey recently finished renovating space for Winchester Medical Center.
The new Crisis Receiving Center and Crisis Intervention Therapeutic Assessment Center (CITAC) supports a program to assist people in the midst of a mental health crisis. It will expedite access to a mental health assessment and quicker access to more direct services. Assessments provide critical information about patients’ conditions and help determine the most beneficial treatments and services needed. Since each patient experiences behavioral health crises very differently, there is no “one size fits all” approach to treatment.
Adjacent to the existing Emergency Department, the new CITAC suite emerged by making alternations to an existing space to create a new patient care suite containing two new behavioral units.
