Shockey first built a 28,000 SF police academy for Roanoke City, then later added an 8,400 SF wing for Roanoke County. The shared-use facility includes classrooms, training spaces, an indoor aquatic center where officers practice water safety and rescue, and a simulator room that provides virtual lethal force scenarios.
Helping the region streamline the use of its resources and energies, Shockey aided in procurement of the design-build project through Virginia’s Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act.
The building is LEED® certified by the US Green Building Council.
