Shockey recently helped Loudoun County expand a busy competition pool with a two-level, 8,400 SF addition at its Claude Moore Park Recreation & Community Center. The improvements provide an enhanced location for spectators during team practices and meets at the facility, which also includes a fitness center, rock climbing wall, leisure pool, giant water slide, hot tub spa, indoor jogging track, gymnasium, aerobics studio, and meeting areas.
Now fully ADA accessible, the expanded viewing area can accommodate 580 people. The project also includes replacement and expansion of the HVAC and air evacuation systems in the pool area.
Pools and their environs have gone through various design trends through the years. On this project, PVS spiral duct was used in the aquatic center areas. The product is energy efficient, durable, aesthetically pleasing, and excellent for chlorine environments.
The success of the new exposed spiral ductwork for the Claude Moore Center was profiled in Snips magazine, a publication that covers the sheet metal industry.
