Valley Health has officially broken ground on a transformative rehabilitation tower in partnership with Michigan-based organization Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation. The new partnership will expand access to high quality acute rehabilitation services in the region.
Shockey is building the new healthcare tower, designed by Kahler Slater, along Linden Drive at Winchester Medical Center (WMC). The tower will connect to the main hospital by a climate-controlled skywalk.
With an anticipated opening in late 2026, the 107,000-SF facility will be a destination for specialized rehabilitation services for all ages. It will offer state-of-the-art acute inpatient rehabilitation, outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy, as well as Orthotics and Prosthetics and Bionics.
The Valley Health not-for-profit health system includes six hospitals and more than 70 medical practices serving patients in northern Virginia and parts of West Virginia and Maryland.
Mary Free Bed started with a single bed in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1891, and has grown to a rehabilitation-focused healthcare system with more than 60 locations in five states. Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation is ranked #9 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
