ARLINGTON, VIRGINIA (January 23, 2017) –Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. is adding a third level to the existing two-story Arlington Trades Center parking garage near Shirlington – this will add 164 employee parking spaces to accommodate existing and future parking needs at the facility.
The recently redeveloped Trades Center houses much of Arlington’s maintenance and vehicle fleet operations. It includes municipal office buildings and facilities used for various county functions, which include automotive vehicle repair, vehicle storage, carpentry, chemical storage, parts and equipment storage, vehicle washing, vehicle refueling, fire training, equipment repair, and earth products handling and recycling.
The new level adds capacity for the parking of passenger cars, SUVs, and light trucks. (The existing structure was constructed in 2005 with provisions for the future level.) The new parking deck will offer approximately 54,656 SF. A new internal ramp will be constructed to reach this new third level.
S3E and RRMM Lukmire are providing design services, and Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. is the general contractor. Precast is being performed by The Shockey Precast Group. The garage will be closed during construction to accommodate the construction of the new internal ramp. The complex is sited on a 42-acre facility that is owned and operated by Arlington County. It is located at the intersection of South Arlington Mill Drive and South Taylor Street in Arlington, Virginia.
