The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum more than tripled its space with construction of a three-floor facility in a former furniture store. The interactive children’s museum boasts a rooftop area, an apple packing shed, a paleontology section, classrooms, a climbing wall, gardens, and an exhibit that illustrates the process of water movement.
On the roof deck, children and guests can explore additional exhibits, host social events, participate in educational programs, or enjoy the view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Shockey transformed an existing building into a vibrant downtown attraction, and Reader & Swartz Architects was awarded the Grand Prize for a Commercial Remodeling over $500,000 in Remodeling Magazine’s Design Awards.
