In what has become an annual tradition, Shockey kicks off 2026 with a fond look back at 2025’s highlights. During another year of growth, our portfolio of significant projects catapulted us into new geographic markets, broadening our reach and further strengthening our capabilities. Along the way, we earned notable industry recognition, welcomed a slew of talented new team members, forged relationships with extraordinary new clients, and even broke a record or two — while also reaffirming the trust of long-standing partners who returned to build with us once again.

January
HIVE (Hub for Innovators, Veterans, and Entrepreneurs) Buzzes with Activity
Students begin the new year with excitement to be in The HIVE at Shenandoah University. This award-winning project is a striking example of adaptive reuse, transforming the historic Hazel-Pruitt Armory into a vibrant technology and innovation hub. Bzzzzz.

Shockey Delivers for Long-term Industrial Client Trex Company
Shockey’s Partner Services team partners again with Trex Company to deliver an addition to its manufacturing capabilities in Winchester, Virginia. The project supports the company’s continued growth as the world’s largest producer of high-performance, wood-alternative decking and railing products.

Hanover County Community Celebrates Groundbreaking of New School
A major milestone is reached with the groundbreaking for the new Battlefield Park Elementary School in Hanover County. The celebration brings together students, educators, local officials, and community members to mark the construction start of a modern replacement facility to better serve the growing needs of area families. The Shockey team is constructing 10 schools at once — a record for us.

Mary Free Bed Joins with Valley Health to Expand Access to High Quality Rehab
Valley Health officially breaks ground on a transformative Rehabilitation Tower in partnership with Shockey and Michigan-based organization Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation. The new tower will house space to radically expand access to high quality acute rehabilitation services for the region.

City of Richmond Upgrades Public Safety with Police Precinct #1 Project
May marks a period of visible momentum on the Richmond Police Precinct #1 project in the heart of the City’s East End. Adjacent to the Justice Center, the project represents how a CMAR contract can help bring together a strategic investment in community infrastructure, modern policing, and collaborative construction.

Shockey Builds Senior Living in Baltimore for The Gallery at Roland Park
In the North Roland Park area of Baltimore, construction moves briskly ahead on a new, amenity-rich infill senior living community. Developed by NexCore Group and Experience Senior Living, The Gallery at Roland Park features 111 apartment homes, including independent living/assisted living and memory care units.

Monument Drive Transit Center Continues to Win Awards and Acclaim
Lauded by both industry professionals and the broader community, the multimodal transportation hub connects commuters to buses, bicycles, rideshares, and pedestrian pathways. Rising up along I-66 in Fairfax County, the Monument Commuter Parking Garage and Transit Center is quickly becoming a signature gateway investment.

Education in Southside Virginia Transformed by Opening of New High School
The new high school in Halifax County ushers in a modern learning environment to replace an outdated facility that had served students for decades. The new high school is a cornerstone for community growth and investment, signaling long-term commitment to student success and economic vitality.

After 10+ years, it’s All Systems Go for Village at Providence Point in Annapolis
Construction of Annapolis’s newest senior housing community, developed by National Lutheran Communities & Services, is underway. Thanks to the vision and collaboration of landowners, environmental advocates, and local leaders, the project will serve as a model for better development — as it achieves both environmental stewardship while also meeting an important community need.

Construction officially gets underway on the Spring Street Parking Garage in downtown Danville, an integral component of Danville’s broader economic development revitalization of its River District. The six-tier, 432-space public parking deck will improve accessibility for residents and visitors alike, encourage increased foot traffic, and support local businesses.
