GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. — Goochland County Public Schools officially kicked-off construction this morning at a ground-breaking ceremony for the new elementary school.
The elementary school is expected to open for the 2024-2025 school year and will house 650 kindergarten through fifth-grade students, plus 50 preschool students.
The building is designed to be flexible and adaptable, collaborative and engaging, student-centered and age-appropriate, and connected to its beautiful 25-acre site and the natural resources that surround the new building.
It will include a gym, a media center, modern security systems, and designated car and bus drop-off and pick-up areas.
The new Goochland Elementary School is being built by Howard Shockey & Sons. The division’s owner representative is MBP, and the project architect is Stantec.
