Construction of New Warren Memorial Hospital Has Started | Winchester Star

FRONT ROYAL— Site preparation has started for Valley Health’s new $100 million Warren Memorial Hospital.

The 177,000-square-foot, three-story hospital will replace the nearly 70-year-old Warren Memorial Hospital at 1000 North Shenandoah Avenue in Front Royal.

Warren Memorial Hospital’s President Floyd Heater unveiled the facility plans during Valley Health’s semi-annual corporate meeting on November 13th.

The new hospital is slated to open in 2020. It will be located off Leach Run Parkway in Front Royal, occupying about 28 acres of a 150-acre site, which leaves room for future expansion, Heater said. The site also will include an adjacent medical building.

Heater said the new hospital will have 36 private patient rooms with large windows to capture natural light, generous space for visitors and private bathrooms. It also will have two trauma rooms, five clinical decision beds, an Emergency Department with 18 private rooms, three operating rooms, two endoscopy rooms, a cardiac catheterization lab, 22 universal prep and recovery rooms, and several rooms dedicated to diagnostic imaging.

Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc., of Winchester is the construction manager, and the architect is Perkins + Will of Washington DC.  Site work started in mid-October, and a groundbreaking ceremony is planned for the spring.
