New Office Building in Middleburg Wins Award of Excellence

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA (October 2, 2015) — Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. is pleased to announce the Federal Street Office Building in Middleburg has been honored with an award of excellence from the Loudoun County Joint Architectural Review Board (JARB).

The Federal Street Building was recognized for outstanding design and construction, and for contributing to the historic fabric of the community.

The architect is Anderson Cooper Group Architects of Middleburg and the builder is Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. of Winchester.

The project is a two-story office building in the historic district. The design of the 9,000 SF infill building is in the Georgian style, and features traditional fieldstone and stucco. The interior includes a raised paneled lobby, flagstone entries, an elevator, and nine-foot ceilings.

The purpose of the annual JARB awards program is to promote preservation efforts and reward exemplary projects.

The historic districts in the towns of Leesburg, Middleburg and Purcellville are noted for the high quality and significance of their historic and cultural assets. In 2008, these local boards collaborated with Loudoun County to create the Joint Architectural Review Board (JARB) and an annual awards program which recognizes exceptional projects in the ten locally designated historic districts.
