Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. is seeking experienced Superintendents for our growing teams. Strong base building background in K-12, healthcare, industrial, or senior living/CCRCs is required.
The Superintendent supports all corporate safety initiatives with a commitment to a safe working environment and a focus on safety as the top priority for all projects. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Studies plans, specifications and contracts to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction, with all emphasis on safety, quality, schedule, and budget.
Plays instrumental role in project schedule development and leads construction activities in a manner that maintains the logic, sequence, and timeline requirements of the overall project schedule.
Manages procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specified times to conform to quality standards and work schedules.
Confers with and directs supervisory personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work procedures, interpreting specifications, and coordinating various phases of construction to maintain the project schedule.
Confers with supervisory and field labor personnel to resolve complaints and grievances within work force.
Confers with supervisory, design team personnel, inspectors, and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve construction problems and improve construction methods.
Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and adheres to construction schedules.
Prepares and reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
Coordinates project activities with requirements of regulatory or other oversight agencies.
Minimum of 5 -10 years experience with a commercial general contractor supervising projects in excess of $30 million.
