Shockey Announces Promotion of Travis Arey To Lead Richmond Office

Richmond, VA — As part of the Richmond office’s continued growth, Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. is pleased to announce that Travis Arey has been promoted to Operations Manager for the Richmond office, located on East Franklin Street.

As Operations Manager, Travis will provide executive oversight for Shockey’s Richmond-area projects. “His focus will be on delivering consistently successful projects and ensuring client satisfaction,” says Jeff Boehm, President of Shockey.

Arey’s experience includes large, complex projects, most notably in the education sector in Virginia and West Virginia. He has been instrumental in the successful project delivery of multiple K-12 projects, including a $40M project for Loudoun County Schools in Virginia, a $39.5M project for Fayette County Schools and a $36.8M project for Marshall County Schools, both in West Virginia.

Prior to joining Shockey, Arey’s operational leadership role with the PCS Companies (with PCS&manage in Charleston, West Virginia) included extensive preconstruction activities, estimating and budgeting, value engineering, and developing design and construction schedules.

Arey spent several years working with the School Building Authority of West Virginia on multiple construction management projects around the state.

Arey’s most recent project was the successful opening of the new 102,852-square-foot Waxpool Elementary School in Ashburn, Virginia.

“His track record is exemplary, from pre-construction services to project delivery, but it’s his reputation for outstanding leadership that truly sets him apart. We look forward to seeing Shockey’s central Virginia growth with Travis at the helm,” says Boehm.

Arey received his Master’s in Architecture with an emphasis on Building Construction from Virginia Tech and received his undergraduate degree from Marshall University.  He is a member of Associated General Contractors (AGC), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), and the Construction Managers Association of America (CMAA).
