The President’s house, called Popodicon, was originally built in 1907 by civil engineer Henry Potts. The Colonial Revival Georgian-style house has received several minor upgrades in the past; this project will provide a comprehensive building update and includes various interior and exterior enhancements. The scope of work addresses code and ADA compliance, and includes new ramps for better accessibility. Work also includes exterior repairs and reconfiguration of interior spaces.rnrnThe 17-room mansion overlooks the banks of the Potomac River, in historic Shepherdstown, West Virginia. The historic residence is surrounded by 126 acres of rolling land, including stately lawns and formal gardens. The state of West Virginia purchased the estate for Shepherd College (which achieved University status in 2004) in 1964. rnrnArchitectural historians say that Popodicon is a “masterpiece of masonry.”” The home retains its interior woodwork and features period Victorian furniture.rnrnArchitect on the project is Rohrer Studio
