Winchester, Va. — Mental health is health. And it couldn’t be any more appropriate for Valley Health to celebrate the start of construction of its new Behavioral & Mental Health Pavilion than during the month of May.
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, an annual observance which aims to increase awareness of the importance of mental health and wellness in Americans’ lives and to celebrate recovery from mental illness.
The new 26,200 square-foot single story outpatient facility will be located at Winchester Medical Center. It will offer therapy, support groups, crisis care, and more—all under one roof. This will be more than a building; it’s a commitment to healing, hope, and a healthier future for all.
The Behavioral Health Service Pavilion is located on the hospital’s campus near the emergency department. Plans call for it to house outpatient, crisis and therapy services for both adults and youth with mental health and substance abuse disorders.
Architect is Kahler Slater and the contractor is Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. Completion is anticipated in late 2026.
