GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. — With a big crowd in attendance, Goochland County Public Schools hosted its official ribbon-cutting ceremony and tours of the new Goochland Elementary School on Thursday, July 16.
The new Goochland Elementary School replaces the 67-year-old original school and will provide room for the community to grow in the future. The 109,000 SF building is designed to accommodate 650 K-5 students and 50 preschool students. The new school includes modern security and energy efficiency features and has designated car and bus drop-off and pick-up areas.
Construction began in 2023. The school will be open for students on the first day of the 2024-25 school year in August. Shockey is the contractor, Stantec is the architect, and the owner’s representative is McDonough Bolyard Peck, Inc. (MBP).
