HERNDON, Va. — The Fairfax County School Board celebrated the completion of the Fox Mill Elementary School project with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 25, 2023.
This project renovated and expanded an existing 71,718-square-foot building, bringing the school’s total size up to 91,123 square feet.
The expansion added about 19,000 square feet of space. New electrical, plumbing, and heating, ventilation, and cooling systems were installed throughout the facility.
The addition includes a new courtyard and secondary entrance, a new basketball court, and an expanded parking lot.
As part of the upgrade, Fox Mill Elementary gained a new entrance featuring an updated, more modern front elevation. Existing hallways and circulation spines were completely redesigned to simplify navigation through the building.
The architect for the renovation is MTFA Architecture of Arlington. The contractor was Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. of Winchester.
