WINCHESTER, Va. (November 14, 2016) – On October 31, Valley Health System held a ceremonial groundbreaking for the Valley Health Surgery Center (VHSC.)
The 21,759 SF surgery center will contain three operating rooms and specialize in orthopedics, otolaryngology (ENT), neurosurgery, and podiatry.
This project is a joint venture between the not-for-profit regional health system and members of the Winchester Medical Center medical community to meet a growing demand for convenient, high quality, cost-effective outpatient surgical services for the region.
“Valley Health is pleased and honored to collaborate and partner with a committed group of physicians who share a vision to provide easily-accessible, efficient patient care,” said Mark H. Merrill, President and CEO of Valley Health and a member of the VHSC governing board. “Working together, we have created a positive model for physician-hospital collaboration, demonstrating the power of working together for shared benefit — for our patients, our community, physician partners and Valley Health.”
Neurosurgeon James B. Chadduck, MD, is chairman of the Valley Health Surgery Center governing board and has played a significant role in advancing this project. “After many months of planning, it is rewarding to be standing here today, on the cusp of making the Valley Health Surgery Center a reality,” Dr. Chadduck said. “What is now an empty landscape will soon take shape as a premier destination for high quality, specialized surgical care, where we expect not just to meet, but to exceed, patient and physician expectations.”
Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. is the general contractor. The design team includes architects Noelker & Hull and Valley Engineering.
The facility is being built on property west of Route 37, and is adjacent to the Courtyard Marriott Winchester Medical Center hotel. It is scheduled to open in the late fall of 2017.
