Shockey Ranked On Three “Top Contractor” Lists by ENR Magazine

WINCHESTER, Va. — Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. is pleased to announce it has been listed three times in the region’s annual top rankings, as compiled by Engineering News Record (ENR) magazine.

ENR’s Mid-Atlantic issue, dated August 11, 2014, ranks the “Top Contractors” in the region by revenue. ENR’s Mid-Atlantic region covers Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. Shockey’s ranking results are as follows:

• Virginia Top Contractors (#15)
• General Building Contractors (#28)
• MidAtlantic Top Contractors (#33)

According to company President Jeff Boehm, the company saw its revenues grow solidly as the economy came of out the recession, and 2014 is expected to continue that upward trend.

Boehm reports that Shockey plans to continue growing its geographic boundaries, especially in Richmond and Roanoke metro areas, and anticipates expansion into key market sectors throughout the region.

Last year, Shockey completed construction on the new $82 million Village at Orchard Ridge CCRC for National Lutheran Homes & Communities in Winchester.

In 2013, Shockey broke ground on the new $50 million plant for Arizona-based Shamrock Farms – the first processing facility on the East Coast for this national dairy company, and started work on the new $19 million Health & Life Sciences Building for Shenandoah University.

Elsewhere in the Commonwealth, Shockey completed phases 3 and 4 of the renovated and expanded Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School in Richmond, built a new campus retreat for Georgetown University in Berryville, and started on the expansion/renovation of three jails for the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail system in southwest Virginia.

Shockey continued moving forward with its 11th public-private partnership project in Virginia, a $16 million New Public Transit Complex for the City of Harrisonburg, which opened earlier this month.

Notable projects outside Virginia include The Village at Rockville CCRC in Rockville, MD, two high schools in Hardy County, WV, and a new medical building for WV University Physicians in Charlestown, WV.
