Shockey Named Among Largest General Contractors in the USA

WINCHESTER, Virginia, July 1, 2017 – Engineering News-Record (ENR) released its “Top 400” contractor rankings this summer and Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc. has again been listed as one of the largest general contractors in the United States.

With revenues of $175 million last year, Shockey was ranked #390 on the “ENR Top 400” list.  Shockey added $235 million in new contracts in 2016.

“We see significant opportunities for growth in 2017,” said Jeff Boehm, President of Howard Shockey & Sons, Inc., adding the company is in a robust hiring phase.

The company recently expanded its presence in the Richmond area, with the construction of the award-winning T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge across the James River and new event space at Bon Secours Washington Redskins Training Center.

The company’s workload in Northern Virginia also grew; three parking structures are currently underway in the Arlington and Falls Church areas.

Other notable projects were put in place for clients such as One Loudoun, Shenandoah University, Valley Health, and Trex Corporation.

Shockey is one of only nine Virginia-based general contractors to be included on the list.

Engineering News Record (ENR), published by McGraw-Hill, is a well-respected weekly publication that provides news, analysis, data and opinion for the construction industry worldwide. ENR’s annual rankings are based on company revenues from the previous year.
